Basic concept of the house is to provide a traditional touch to modernity, traditionally, Indian and East Asian architectures have been the most significant forms of foreign influence on Sri Lankan architecture and both have played a significant role in shaping it. Whole shape of the building and use of traditional building materials, and architectural elements adapted to the local climate proved to be useful as it helped keep costs down in addition to referencing local context. Moreover, it maintains the tropical modernist flair of the buildings.

Simple, stylish and charm look of the house entices with a royalness. Exposed brick is the medium to show cool, relaxed and rustic nature; or its inspiration from nature. Classic red brick explores warm and tasty segues, and cool grey tile and non-plastered structural elements like beam and columns provide a subtle backdrop to the traditional-modern style.

This minimal slant facade keeping a concept of timeline, as the facade reflects the modern time, even with the material usage and the block coming behind reflects old time. Moreover, form a close view from the street, it will look questionably bigger in scale than it is, it appears to be a 4 or 5 floor building and the tilt will be curious, yet the structure is very simple!

 

North facing large glass windows tilted from the opposite direction of the north titled façade more elegant and unique. In addition, the dark red colour of the window gives a contrast to the exposed concrete finish. Moreover, it reduces the overheat and allows adequate sunlight and ventilation to the house inside without any glare effects resulting from sunlight.  

From the outside as you pull up to the home you might think this is just slightly better than an average house. As you step inside however you are immediately seized by the large open spaces and the unique furniture that lies within.

Indoor plant area with small seating boundary gives more attraction to the living room. The brick exposed wall and indoor greenery aesthetically flows from nature and tiled floor, contrast coloured sofa and lightings lift up the beauty of modernity in the traditional place. Beyond an aesthetic purpose, the interior landscaping plays a vital role in providing a pleasant and tranquil environment to move, work or relax.

Most of us know instinctively that being close to greenery makes us feel more at ease with our surroundings. We experience less stress when there are plants around us. Buildings are quieter and more relaxed while being more stimulating and interesting by this kind of small hierarchical places.

A mini library with planting top on front of the dining area effectively use the space and beautifully partition the living room and staircase while keeping up the privacy. 

 

Fully modern and luxurious kitchen and pantry cupboards have an ability to increase the interest of the house in appoint. More space is introduced by light rustic colour choice. The proper colour matching has given the whole kitchen a classy, sleek look. It is plain but not boring at all. Easy on the eye and certainly a place you want to spend time cooking, eating or chatting with friends and family. The grey splashback makes it easier to clean and compliments the high glow white outlook of the entire kitchen.

The dwelling is composed of three storeys. Brownish red hand railing totally contrasts with the grey (unplaster look) tile and beautifully matches the brick exposed feature with modern style. Furthermore, the indoor planting to of the library gives a pleasant downward view from upper floors.

First floor television area helps entertaining people while being separated from all other areas. It helps people move independently and happily. A golden natural look is provided by wood furnishing and brickworks,

There is no need to fear their stylish and hard exteriors. Bedrooms open up with private balconies overlooking the landscape, and balconies with wide window and door openings provide enough ventilation and sunlight while helping up the romanticism.
